Practice Areas

One of the largest health professions in Newfoundland and Labrador, there are more than 1,600 Registered Social Workers practicing throughout all regions of the province in a diverse range of practice settings.

Social workers practice within hospitals, seniors’ homes, adult and youth corrections, child welfare, addictions, mental health, community centres, government departments and universities. Social workers are also self-employed in private practice and consulting businesses.

Social workers also work in direct practice with individuals, couples and families, community development, health promotion, policy development, administrative practice and research.
