Communication Facilitators
The central focus of the Communication Facilitators Committee is to support information sharing between NLCSW and social workers.
Continuing Education Fund
The Continuing Education Fund Committee oversees the administration of NLCSW’s Professional Development Fund and the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW)/BMS Scholarship Fund in accordance with established guidelines.
Disciplinary Panel
The Disciplinary Panel is compromised of Registered Social Workers (RSWs) and public representatives. RSW members of the panel are appointed by the Board of Directors and public representatives are appointed by the Minister of Health and Community Services.
The Disciplinary Panel is delegated with the task of addressing complaints against the professional practice of registered or formerly registered social workers in Newfoundland and Labrador in accordance with the Social Workers Act .
Editorial Committee
The Editorial Committee oversees the publication of the Connecting Voices newsletter two times per year.
Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee provides consultation and feedback to registered social workers on ethical issues and develops ethical resources for the social work profession.
Professional Practice Coordinators
This committee is a cross sector forum for persons who have major responsibility for dealing with professional social work issues and informing clinical social work guidelines or standards of practice for social work in the health care sector. Each participant remains accountable to their respective employer for positions presented as part of this committee.
Promotion of the Profession Committee
The Promotion of the Profession Committee develops, coordinates, facilitates, implements, and evaluates initiatives to promote the knowledge, skills, and expertise of social workers as regulated professionals.
Registration Committee
The Registration Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors, delegated with the task to oversee policy and procedures related to social work registration in accordance with the Social Workers Act and to provide consultation to the registrar regarding the assessment of applications for registration.
Quality Assurance Committee
The Quality Assurance Committee is a committee appointed by the Board of Directors to oversee the Quality Assurance Program.
Ad-Hoc Committees
Private Practice Advisory Committee
The Private Practice Advisory Committee informs standards and continuing education related to private practice and the future direction of private practice. The committee is also tasked with identifying strategies/recommendations for enhancing the profile of private practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.
